Before shopping on the Internet you need to do yourself a big favor and learn how to maximize your savings by following my easy "3-Step Money Saving Internet Shopping Strategy".
First Step - consider how you will be paying for your on-line purchases. Many on-line merchants will allow you to pay with either a credit card, a debit card, a gift card, PayPal, BillMeLater or by an electronic check.
If you prefer to use a credit card* then be sure and use one that pays you cash back for your purchases. There are other advantages to using a credit card including purchase protection and free extended product warranties to name just a couple.
* To avoid paying interest pay off the balance each month. To avoid a late fee pay on time.
If you don't have a credit card because of poor credit, or don't want to use a credit card or you don't have a checking account then you may want to consider applying for a pre-paid VISA card. If you would like to check into all the benefits of a pre-paid VISA card AccountNow is offering a $15 bonus. Click Here to Apply Now!
If you prefer to use a gift card then be sure and buy a discounted gift card. There are a number of companies that sell discounted gift cards that will save you from 2-35%. If you purchase discounted gift cards with a credit card that pays you cash back you will save even more.
I use GiftCardGranny.com to find the discounted gift card that I am interested in buying which is linked to all the major sources of discounted gift cards.
When you make your purchase you not only get a discount on the gift card but you also get another bonus when you pay for the discounted gift card using a credit card that pays you a cash back bonus.
Second Step - once you have determined which payment method you want to use then you will want to shop for the best price. I normally will compare prices between at least three sources. If it is a really big ticket item I will compare several more sites.
Here is a list of sources that I recommend for finding the best price:
Third Step - now that you have decided on the best payment method and have found the best deal the final step is to use one of the popular "Shopping Portals" such Ebates or ShopAtHome or MrRebates to go to the store where you want to make your purchase. The shopping portals offer exclusive discounts and coupons and they pay you cash back of up to 50%. The shopping portals are all free to join and free to use. New members get a $5 or $10 bonus or a choice of gift card for joining.
That is it in a nut shell. Try my simple technique and let me know how much it saved you on your purchases.
How To Use The Shopping Portals:
If you are not familiar with using the shopping portals, such as Ebates or Mr. Rebates, here is what you need to do to get your Cash-Back rebate for your purchases:
- Log into your Ebates or Mr. Rebates account.
- Use the search box to find the merchant that you want to shop at.
- Look over the offers listed on Ebates or Mr. Rebates and click on the offer that you would like to use. Use the promo code or coupon code listed.** Oftentimes no coupon code is required in order to qualify for the Cash-Back offer.
- You will then be redirected to the merchants website where you do your shopping just as you normally would.
- That's all there is too it! Once your purchase is confirmed and qualified the Cash-Back rebate will be applied to your Ebates or Mr. Rebates account.
** Be sure that you use only the promo codes listed, if any, on Ebates or Mr.Rebates. Promotion codes that are found outside of Ebates or Mr. Rebates are not eligible for their Cash-Back rebates.
